hat is Mineral Water?

Mineral water is something entirely different. Here the word "mineral" is used in reference to dissolved solids that occur in the water as it is taken from a natural source such as a spring.

These dissolved substances occur in the water because while the water was in the ground it came into contact with mineral and non-mineral materials. Some of those materials were soluble and were dissolved by the water.

To be sold as a "mineral water" a liquid must be water, taken from a natural source, and contain at least 250 parts per million total dissolved solids - that occur naturally in the water.

Natural mineral waters are found at many locations worldwide and vary widely in composition. Under some circumstances the dissolved materials in the water would be considered to be "impurities". Under other circumstances these waters are bottled and sold to people who believe that the dissolved "minerals" might provide a health benefit.

Since neurons are 85% water in their healthy state and since the brain receives and requires fully 20% of our total blood supply, carrying with it oxygen and essential nutrients, the effect of vascular volume depletion can be catastrophic.

For athletes, who lose electrolytes through sweat, coconut water is a great solution. However, there is mounting evidence that this drink has uses for everyone. It’s even a home remedy for stomach pain and vomiting.

The health benefits of coconut water

Coconut water will help reduce your blood pressure because of its potassium; and strengthens the immune system because of its lauric acid content. In addition, Lauric acid is antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-parasitic plus a great way to help eliminate urinary infections due to its diuretic effect.

The best source of coconut water
There is nothing like opening a coconut and getting the water straight from the source. The next best thing is a packaged – “virgin” (raw) coconut water. What you don’t want is any brand that has additives, including sugar.
The purer the drink the better and some brands have “flavored” versions – so look for the label 100 percent, pure coconut water with nothing else on the ingredient list.
